The title; But, O, How Vile a God This Idol Proves is taken from Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. I have imagined a group of sixth formers from a minor public boys school set in the year 1959. Some of the boys have set up a secret drama club where at night they perform - for themselves, Shakespeare’s plays. The texts of which, seem to articulate the confused relationships between the boys that they themselves cannot articulate.
